Last evening we went to see the baby turtles head for the ocean, just after they hatched. There were 20 or more “turtle watchers” there to help guide them into the water. They say that only one out of a thousand make it to maturity and return to lay more eggs. There were 104 in this nest and there are over two hundred nests on Oak Island this year. I think I might volunteer next year.
